and then within minutes...  "Check-mate!"

We have a little chess genius at our house and a little competition too!  Oliver starts chess club after school this week and cannot wait to have more worthy opponents - okay, well, maybe that's a little harsh - how about more people to play against.  I think his brother and father would agree that Oliver needs a bigger challenge too!

And just in case you're confused about the weather and time of year this photo was taken...  yes, it is mid-October and my boys are still wearing shorts.  Notice the sweatshirts, however, as insisted by Mom.  And the red Crocs on Henry's feet...  once upon a time they were mine!  They've become his new "go-to" shoe, however, and I haven't worn them much this summer.

Time on the patio is fleeting in Minnesota... and soon the cushions and furniture will be stored.  Until then, you can find us grillin' and chillin' in the backyard and enjoying a healthy game of chess!
