My Dear Henry

When did you grow up to be a young man? You asked me yesterday if you were a teenager now? No, not quite, but it seems only moments away.

Your deep blue eyes... so full of love and compassion. Your laugh and smile - infectious! Your love of life - contagious, and your thirst for knowledge - seemingly unquenchable. It seems that just last week you were concerned of nothing more than the toys scattered wall to wall like carpeting, and now you are counting the days until you start middle school.  Indeed, pre-AP classes, band and choir will keep you very busy this fall.

I am very proud of you. You've accomplished so much already in your short 11 years. My wish for you in the coming year is that of patience and organization. Don't give up too easily. Life is change, challenge and struggle. Anything worth it in the end, has those three elements. I know you will stumble, and a few tears will be shed when you can't seem to find the time to just be a kid, but I'll be there to remind you what's important and reprioritize.

You are a blessing. May you continue to "light the world" as you grow in your 11th year.

I love you,
Mom
