How about a quick generalized update post for today...
Alek: Finishing up his last week of summer school. He is also taking two more behind-the-wheel sessions before he will test for his driver's license. He starts his junior year at Armstrong this September and will start A-school in January after break. He is in our prayers (will you add him to yours?) that he keeps the goal in sight... graduate with your class in 2011.
Alek has a new girlfriend and she is quite adorable. She is a good influence in his life and we actually got to MEET her and have her over for dinner. A big step in my son's life, I think.
Henry: The Twins finished their season as the winners of the Consolation bracket for PNHLL Minors/American League. Henry has a new trophy to adorn the already full shelf in his room. It was a good season, all the way around. He has finally asked to go to the batting cages too. JP will get him going on this in the winter months, I hope.
Henry has a lot going on when school starts in September, so he's been enjoying his "down time" quite a bit this summer. Mom is trying to keep him on task with reading, but that proves difficult on most days. Henry will go away for a whole WEEK of camp at Camp Wapo the last week in July. I wonder if he will get home sick? He is also slated to go to STARbase camp in August. Anything to keep his mind active - that's the plan!
Oliver: It's been a good summer for Oliver too as he began golf lessons in May. He is now on a golf league on Wednesdays and is a natural (of course). When Dad goes golfing now, Oliver isn't too far out of ear shot and wants to know if he can go too!
The weekend before Henry goes away to camp for a week, Oliver gets to spend his first overnights at camp. Big steps for the youngest boy in the family. To keep him occupied and not missing his brother we have also lined up swimming lessons at the local pool.
JP: He is busy with projects, of course. The list never ends but he swears off "big" projects when the awning is finished. Hmmmm, there's still a fence and yard to repair. Perhaps those are smaller projects?! When JP isn't busy with projects or driving the boys around this summer, he has found a few quiet moments and also gets out to golf on occasion. We are all looking forward to seeing him skydive in August or September! I purchased a gift certificate for him (bucket list, remember) and it will be an experience to remember, I'm sure.
Me: Life is good. I have 12 Tuesdays left of school at Bethel University and I graduate with my B.A. in Organizational Leadership on Friday, December 18, 2009. You might actually hear me shout it from the rooftops of Maple Grove on the last night of class (October 27). I have been tossing around the idea of going for my Master's but think I'll let that one sit for a while. I need some time off from studying, and JP is going to enjoy taking a culinary class or two this winter.
I am flying out to Milton, Pennsylvania this weekend for a long 4-days of fun with some girlfriends. I am really looking forward to it! (Oooh, just mapquested it and discovered it's not far from Scranton - shout out to The Office! LOL! Okay, enough nerdiness!!) Look for some pictures to follow!
Hope this finds everyone enjoying their summer and the sunshine!
