My baby is growing up!

We were at a choir concert at church last Saturday evening and he drew these on the back of prayer cards. There were at least four drawings that evening and all with an artist's eye... amazing detail from memory!

recognize the houses? hint: if you don't watch Nick, you may not.

and an airport... gas truck, people, etc.

In addition to Oliver's creative artwork, there were plenty of items proudly displayed on the walls at school when we went to conferences last night. Another one in particular was a report on a leprechaun (yes, even spelled correctly) and what he would do if he found a pot of gold. I do not have it handy to scan and share because it is still displayed, but let's just say that Oliver's empathy shone brightly in his words. I am deeply touched to say that what we are doing to share with others is visible in his writing and demeanor.

Oliver was sick on Monday and missed another day of school. On his own (he must have felt a tad guilty) he asked to do a report that night so he could bring it to school and share. He chose to do it on seals. The words (facts) he copied from the websites were college level, but he was proud. His teacher used it as an example and read it all to the class, and they will use it as a "teaching tool" on how to improve from drafts and use words at their level.

Oliver is doing so well in class that we kept asking, "are you sure you're talking about our Oliver?!" He's reading at almost a 4th grade level and has turned his attitude and attention around at school so much that we were beaming by the time we left. Definitely a proud parent moment. Way to go, Oliver!!
